IBPS Clerk

IBPS Clerk (Customer Service Associate) is a recruitment exam conducted to select candidates for Customer Service Associate positions in participating public sector banks.

The exam tests your skills in areas such as English Language, Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Aptitude.

Example: A graduate who wants to start a career in banking as a Customer Service Associate can appear for the IBPS Clerk exam.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university, along with computer literacy and proficiency in the specified local language.

Exam Stages: Preliminary Examination and Main Examination, followed by provisional allotment.

Mode: Online examination.

Preliminary Exam: 100 questions, 100 marks, 1 hour.

Main Exam: 155 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours.

Frequency: Generally conducted once a year, subject to the IBPS recruitment calendar.

Qualification:

  • Maximum age: 28 years.
  • Age relaxation is available for eligible categories as per IBPS rules.

Stream:

  • Graduation in any stream is accepted.

Computer Knowledge:

  • Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the State or Union Territory they apply for.

Min marks:

  • No minimum percentage is specified in graduation.

Attempts:

  • There is no separate fixed limit on the number of attempts.
  • You can apply as long as you meet the age and other eligibility requirements.

Phase 1: Preliminary Examination

  • English Language: 30 questions, 30 marks, 20 minutes
  • Numerical Ability: 35 questions, 35 marks, 20 minutes
  • Reasoning Ability: 35 questions, 35 marks, 20 minutes
  • Total: 100 questions, 100 marks, 1 hour

Phase 2: Main Examination

  • General / Financial Awareness: 40 questions, 50 marks, 20 minutes
  • General English: 40 questions, 40 marks, 35 minutes
  • Reasoning Ability: 40 questions, 60 marks, 35 minutes
  • Quantitative Aptitude: 40 questions, 50 marks, 35 minutes
  • Total: 160 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours 5 minutes

Negative Marking:

  • 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer in the objective tests.

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination

  • Candidates must qualify in the Preliminary Examination to be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

Stage 2: Main Examination

  • Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination.

Stage 3: Provisional Allotment

  • Candidates are provisionally allotted to one of the participating banks based on their performance in the Main Examination, merit-cum-preference, available vacancies, reservation rules, and other applicable conditions.

Final Selection

  • Final appointment is subject to provisional allotment, fulfilment of eligibility criteria, document verification, and completion of other requirements specified by the participating bank.
