JET (FTII / SRFTI)

JET (Joint Entrance Test) (FTII / SRFTI) is an entrance examination used for admission to selected film, television, media, and production-related courses.

Conducted by:premier institutes such as FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) and SRFTI (Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute).

Qualification: Bachelor's degree from a recognised university (or appearing in the final year).*

Age: Minimum 21 years. No upper age limit.

Minimum Marks: Only passing marks required (No minimum percentage threshold).

Attempts: No restriction on the number of attempts.

Question Type: Objective MCQs and Subjective Descriptive Questions

  • Paper I (Objective): Multiple Choice Questions with only one correct answer option.
  • Paper II (Subjective): Long Descriptive/Subjective questions based on your specific discipline.

Exam Frequency: Conducted once a year

Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes

Total Marks: 100 Marks

Question Paper Structure:

Question paper has two primary papers/sections:

  • Paper I: MCQs – 30 Questions (60 Marks)
  • Paper II: Descriptive – Discipline Specific Questions (40 Marks)

Marking Scheme:

  • Paper I (MCQs):
    • +2 marks for correct answers
    • -0.5 marks for wrong answers / selection of multiple options
    • 0 marks for unattempted questions
  • Paper II (Descriptive):
    • Evaluated out of 40 marks total
    • No negative marking applies to subjective text or descriptive answers

JET scores are used for admission to postgraduate cinema and television specialisation programmes offered by FTII Pune and SRFTI Kolkata.
