MAT (Management Aptitude Test)

MAT is a national-level entrance examination conducted by the All India Management Association (AIMA)for admission to MBA and other postgraduate management programmes offered by participating business schools across India.

MAT scores are accepted by 600+ management institutes across the country for admission to MBA, PGDM, and other postgraduate management programmes.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

Exam Pattern: Computer-Based Test (CBT), Paper-Based Test (PBT), or Internet-Based Test (IBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Mode: CBT, PBT, or IBT (depending on the test session).

Total Questions: 150 Questions.

Frequency: Conducted multiple times a year.

Qualification:

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree (minimum 3 years duration) in any discipline from a recognized university or institution.
  • Students in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply, provided they complete their degree before the admission process.

Age:

  • There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in the MAT examination.

Minimum Marks:

  • For the Exam: No minimum marks are required to appear for the MAT examination.
  • For Admission: Most participating institutes require at least 50% marks in graduation (45% for reserved category candidates). The required minimum marks may vary depending on the institute.

Attempts:

  • There is no limit on the number of times you can appear for the MAT examination.

Nationality:

  • Indian and foreign candidates can apply, subject to the admission rules of the participating institutes.

Mode of Examination: Computer-Based Test (CBT), Paper-Based Test (PBT), or Internet-Based Test (IBT), depending on the test session.

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Duration: 120 Minutes (2 Hours).

Total Questions: 150 Questions.

  • Language Comprehension: 30 Questions.
  • Intelligence & Critical Reasoning: 30 Questions.
  • Mathematical Skills: 30 Questions.
  • Data Analysis & Sufficiency: 30 Questions.
  • Indian & Global Environment: 30 Questions.

Marking Scheme:

  • Correct Answer: +1 Mark.
  • Incorrect Answer: –0.25 Mark.
  • Unattempted Question: No penalty.

Students who qualify through the MAT (Management Aptitude Test) can apply for postgraduate management programmes offered by AIMA-participating institutes and many other business schools across India.
