NLSAT (National Law School Admission Test)

NLSAT is a university-level entrance examination conducted by the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru for admission to its 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) programme.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree (any discipline) from a recognized university.

Mode: Offline (Pen-and-Paper).

Total Marks: 150 Marks (Part A: 75 Marks + Part B: 75 Marks).

Exam Structure:

Frequency: Conducted once a year (usually April).

Important:

All students must write both parts of the exam.

But Part B is evaluated only for candidates who score well in Part A.

Qualification:

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Candidates appearing for the final year of their Bachelor's degree may also apply, provided they complete all admission requirements before the deadline.

Age:

  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in NLSAT.

Minimum Marks:

  • General Category: At least 45% aggregate marks in the Bachelor's degree.
  • SC/ST Category: At least 40% aggregate marks in the Bachelor's degree.

Attempts:

  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts.

Nationality:

  • Indian and foreign nationals are eligible to apply, based on the admission rules of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru.

Mode: Offline (Pen-and-Paper).

Duration: 150 Minutes (2 Hours 30 Minutes).

Total Marks: 150 Marks.

Question Paper Structure:

  • Part A (Objective): 75 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) carrying a total of 75 marks.
  • Part B (Subjective): 10 short-answer questions (Legal Aptitude/Reasoning) and 1 essay question (Analytical Ability), carrying a total of 75 marks.

Marking Scheme:

  • Correct Answer (Part A): +1 Mark.
  • Incorrect Answer (Part A): –0.25 Mark.
  • Unanswered Question (Part A): –0.25 Mark.
  • Part B: No negative marking.

Important:

Students who qualify through the NLSAT (National Law School Admission Test) can apply for admission to the 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) course.

Undergraduate Course:

  • 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.): A three-year undergraduate law programme designed for graduates from any discipline who wish to pursue a career in law.

NLSAT is conducted exclusively for admission to the 3-Year LL.B. (Hons.) programme at NLSIU, Bengaluru.

Students seeking admission to other law colleges or universities should apply through the relevant entrance examinations such as CLAT, AILET, SLAT, or state-level law entrance examinations.
