NMAT (NMIMS Management Aptitude Test)

NMAT is a national-level entrance examination conducted for admission to MBA and other postgraduate management programmes.

NMAT scores are accepted by NMIMS and many other leading business schools in India and abroad for admission to MBA, PGDM, and other management programmes.

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.

Exam Pattern: Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test).

Total Questions: 108 Questions.

Frequency: Conducted once a year.

Qualification:

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree (minimum 3 years duration) in any discipline from a recognized university or institute.
  • Students currently in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply, provided they complete all degree requirements before the admission process.

Age:

  • There is no upper or lower age limit for appearing in the NMAT examination.

Minimum Marks:

  • For the Exam: No minimum marks are required to appear for the NMAT examination.
  • For Admission: Most participating institutes require at least 50% marks in graduation. Some institutes may have higher requirements or category-wise relaxations.

Attempts:

  • You can take the NMAT examination up to 3 times (1 first attempt + 2 retakes) in one admission year.
  • Note: Some institutes, such as NMIMS, may consider only your first attempt for admission to certain campuses. Always check the admission policy of the respective institute.

Nationality:

  • Indian, NRI, and foreign candidates are eligible, subject to the admission rules of the participating institutes.

Mode of Examination: Online (Computer-Based Test).

Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Duration: 120 Minutes (2 Hours).

Frequency: Conducted once a year.

Total Questions: 108 Questions.

Scoring: Scaled score ranging from 36 to 360 (12 to 120 per section).

Sections:

  • Language Skills: 36 Questions (28 Minutes).
  • Logical Reasoning: 36 Questions (40 Minutes).
  • Quantitative Skills: 36 Questions (52 Minutes).

Marking Scheme:

  • Correct Answer: Your score is calculated based on the number of correct answers and then converted into a scaled score.
  • Incorrect Answer: No negative marking.
  • Unattempted Question: No penalty.

What is a Scaled Score?

The number of correct answers you got is not your final score.

Final score is decided by NMAT using a special scoring method to convert your performance into a scaled score.

Example:

Two students may answer 80 questions correctly, but one may receive a scaled score of 242 and the other 247.

This is because the final score depends on the NMAT scoring method, not just the number of correct answers.

The exact method used to calculate the scaled score is not published by GMAC.

Important:

Each section has a separate time limit.

Once the time for a section is over, you cannot return to it.

You can choose the order of the sections before starting the examination.
