SLAT (Symbiosis Law Admission Test)

SLAT is a national-level entrance examination conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University) for admission to its five-year integrated law programmes offered at participating Symbiosis Law Schools.

The examination is followed by a Personal Interaction (PI) process for final selection.

Eligibility: Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent from a recognized board.

Exam Pattern: Computer-Based Test (CBT) consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Mode: Online (Computer-Based Test).

Total Questions: 60 Questions.

Total Marks: 60 Marks.

Frequency: Conducted once a year (usually December).

Qualification:

  • Must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  • Students appearing for their Class 12 board examinations are also eligible to apply.

Age:

  • There is no upper age limit for appearing in SLAT.

Minimum Marks:

  • General / OBC Category: At least 45% marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
  • SC/ST Category: At least 40% marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.

Attempts:

  • There is no restriction on the number of attempts.

Nationality:

  • Indian and foreign nationals are eligible to apply, subject to the admission rules of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).

Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).

Frequency: Conducted once a year.

Duration: 60 Minutes.

Total Questions: 60 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Total Marks: 60 Marks.

Question Paper Structure:

  • Logical Reasoning: 12 Questions (12 Marks).
  • Legal Reasoning: 12 Questions (12 Marks).
  • Analytical Reasoning: 12 Questions (12 Marks).
  • Reading Comprehension: 12 Questions (12 Marks).
  • General Knowledge: 12 Questions (12 Marks).

Marking Scheme:

  • Correct Answer: +1 Mark.
  • Incorrect Answer: No Negative Marking.
  • Unattempted Question: 0 Marks.

Important:

All five sections carry equal weightage.

Candidates shortlisted based on their SLAT score must also participate in the Personal Interaction (PI) process for final admission to Symbiosis Law Schools.

Students who qualify through the AILET (All India Law Entrance Test) can apply for undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral law programmes offered exclusively by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi.

Undergraduate Course:

  • B.A. LL.B. (Hons.): A 5-year integrated law programme.

Postgraduate Course:

  • LL.M. (Master of Laws): A 1-year postgraduate programme.

Doctoral Programme:

  • Ph.D. in Law and Social Sciences: A research-based doctoral programme.
